These are some of the most common questions asked about our facility and services. For questions about sleep disorders, please visit our FOR OUR PATIENTS section.
Why do I need an office visit before my sleep study?
Our physicians are board certified sleep specialists. During your office visit, a physician will evaluate you for one of the over 80 sleep disorders that are currently known. Some sleep disorders may be treated without requiring a sleep study, while others require a sleep study to diagnose and assess its severity.
This visit not only ensures that we are providing you with the best possible service, but it is also a requirement for the sleep center to meet the high standards of accreditation.
What age range of patients do you see?
We typically see patients beginning at 13 years old (with some exceptions). There is no upper age limit.
When are the sleep studies conducted?
We conduct sleep studies Sunday through Friday, to accommodate your busy schedule. Patients for overnight studies arrive at the center at 7:30 or 9pm and generally rise by 6am.
What should I bring to my sleep study?
We suggest you pack as if you were visiting a hotel. You should also bring your own pillow. Since you will be monitored by a technician, we require patients to wear sleep wear during the study, tops and bottoms are both required. Nightgowns, PJs, sweats, shorts and t-shirts are all allowable for sleepwear.
What if I can't fall asleep?
Many patients worry about falling asleep while being monitored. The good news is that patients almost always fall asleep, it just may take a little longer than normal. If this is a serious concern, please voice your concerns with the physician during your appointment.
Can I go to the bathroom during my sleep study?
Definitely! Each of our rooms features a fully equipped, private bathroom.
Can I bring my spouse or loved one to accompany me during the sleep study?
Unfortunately, no other people are routinely allowed during testing. However, there may be exceptions determined at your physician’s visit.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies provide coverage for the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders for adults and children. We suggest that you contact your insurance company for your policy’s specific conditions. We would be happy to help you in this process.
